  1. Thanks for reminding me. He did some Florida work. I also wonder how important the Madame X portrait was to fashion. She seems interesting too.


    1. It’s a very forced pose. I like his American portraits best, but I could look at his stuff, no matter the subject matter for hours–so much talent!

    Sargent is my absolute favorite painter!! “Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose” is my favorite. Thomi loved “The Oyster Gatherers of Cancale.” What an amazing artist! Thanks for this little slice of Sargent heaven.


    1. Joan! Hi! He’s one of my all time favorites as well.I think we owe a debt of gratitude to the person who put this video together. I could have watched it for hours. Because the pictures faded in and out so fast it reminded me of the fleeting beauty of things in this life. All of the people who looked so alive living their moments in front of Sargent are with us no longer.

      There better be a heaven. 🙂
