I love hearing a voice from so long ago. We look back on the old songs and think they’re too sentimental, but when you hear his voice and you know that for him the war was real and serious–it’s moving.
Fabulous – aural history! I loved hearing his voice, the quality of the recording… took me back to a different era quicker, more decisively than anything I might read.
There’s something so poignant about an old man’s voice. I love how we can leap-frog back with early recordings. At first, as a modern, I felt impatient with the slow build up to the actual recording but it was worth the 10 second wait 🙂
