      • I may overestimate, but traffic can be bad and my ancestor with a horse had no traffic. They had more control over where the roads went, so my 5 miles could be their 3. At a 8 mph trot, the horse can win,
        The longer distance can only be won against the bad traffic because the distance means you can’t break out of a trot. I may be wrong, just my guess.
