And I love portraits of humans with their dogs. This is so lovely.

Seeing people with their animals really humanizes them–funny how that works!

I could feel the fur of that collie under my fingers. Sigh.

If I had another life to live I definitely would get a collie–I already have too many dogs! Collies are so gentle and elegant.

A great artist who is not widely known – I love his paintings and this is a lovely one. The dog looks peaceful but I see angst in the woman’s eyes…

Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could interview the sitters in portraits? There’s definitely something going on with her! I love when an artist captures the unrehearsed moment. How do they do this?

Read all the great collie stories by Albert Payson Terhune when I was in grade school. Between the books and the “Lassie” TV series, I spent most of my childhood in love with collies.

I was going to say I wished women still dressed like this but I remembered that celebrities and prom queens still do. In our town everyone comes to the school auditorium to see the prom dresses and hairstyles the girls wear. I confess to enjoying it myself. Despite modernity most women seem to love a pretty dress.
