So true. My family always meant well, but, boy, were their perspectives on life strange (as is my own, I guess). Of course there is a difference when family members are thoughtful and trying give advice with love–but it’s a tightrope!
It may be they are the best, simply because they’re not afraid to tell you the truth. On the other hand, there’s nothing that will ruin a good turkey dinner than the truth. ๐

Family criticism per se can be toxic. It’s not always objective, because of the interpersonal dynamics involved
