Of course! When I wrote about a free love community in the 19th century I was really exploring today’s “free love” while also allowing myself to revisit places and experiences I’ve had in my own life. I see historical fiction as fantasy time travel. It also gives me a freedom to explore what’s closest to me without embarrassment. 😉
